Travel trip to Battleship Iowa and L.A. waterfront
The City of Lakewood offers affordable, family-friendly local travel programs, with the next trip heading to a unique, interactive experience at the Battleship USS Iowa Museum at the Los Angeles Waterfront on Saturday, June 9.
This adventure highlights life at sea for thousands of sailors over the past 70 years. Known as the Battleship of Presidents, USS Iowa is located at the former home to the US Navy pacific fleet and an area rich in maritime history.
After the USS Iowa tour, participants will proceed down the waterfront and enjoy a guided boat tour of the harbor. This will be an informative and exhilarating day of fun that shouldn’t be missed! There is a moderate amount of walking involved and handicap access is limited.
The cost is $36, which includes bus transportation. Please arrive at Burns Community Center by 9:00 a.m. for check in. Bus leaves promptly at 9:15 a.m. An adult must accompany children of all ages. Register at www.lakewoodcity.org/ecatalog using activity #9844.
