Fifteen young entrepreneurs who completed the Lemonade Day program to learn how to set up, market and run their own lemonade stand are ready to invite the Lakewood community to support their efforts by stopping by to buy a cool glass of lemonade.
The official Lemonade Day is Saturday, Aug. 10. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., you can visit these future CEOs at any of these locations:
- Bolivar Park*
- Del Valle Park
- Mayfair Park*
- Palms Park
- Rynerson Dog Park
- San Martin Park*
- Lakewood Center Mall (inside near Macy’s*)
- Lakewood Center Mall (outside between Costco and Ulta*)
- Lakewood Family YMCA*
- Lakewood Sheriff Station
*These locations are also open on Sunday, Aug. 11.
Lemonade Day is a hands-on program designed to teach students in third to fifth grade how to start, own and operate their own business—a lemonade stand—while learning about financial literacy, self-reliance and entrepreneurial skills.
In late July, after completing the Lemonade Stand program covering budgeting, marketing, customer service and inventory management, these 15 young entrepreneurs (photo) met with Lakewood City Council Members and visited City Hall to apply for and receive business permits to operate their temporary stands on Lemonade Day, Saturday, Aug. 10. (While the city would normally not require a youth-run lemonade stand to get a permit, they were made part of this program to give the students a fuller view of the steps required to operate a business.)
The students will each donate a portion of their profits to a non-profit organization of their choice.
