Home Security Camera & Home Alarm System Rebate Program

Overview

The City of Lakewood encourages residents to take proactive measures to protect their homes and personal property.

To help, Lakewood is offering residents an opportunity to receive rebates for purchasing and installing security camera devices and/or starting a new twelve-month contract for a home alarm system.

Security Camera Rebates

  • $75 rebate for purchasing and installing one security camera
  • $150 rebate for purchasing and installing two security camera

Security Camera Installation Rebates

  • $75 for installation of at least one security camera via hard-wire electrical connection, by a third party,  for an installation cost of $150.00 or greater
  • $150 for installation of at least one security camera via hard-wire electrical connection, by a third party,  for an installation cost of $300.00 or greater

New Home Security Alarm System Rebate

  • 50% for installation and activation cost for a new alarm system, up to $200.00

The rebate program is offered on a first-come, first-served basis to Lakewood residents who purchase and install a security camera device (or devices) and/or start new twelve-month contract for home security alarm system on or after July 1, 2024.

Rebates are available until program funding is expended – apply early for best opportunity at receiving a rebate. 

How to apply 

  • Apply online (Be prepared to upload photos or PDFs of your ID, utility bill, receipts, and images from the camera device(s)).

Online Home Security Camera Rebate Form

Complete the following steps:

1. Check the requirements for each rebate and follow the steps

2. Fill out the Home Security Camera & Alarm System Rebate Application (use the online application, or print the PDF form if you prefer to mail it in.)

3. Include copies (or upload copies to online form) of all of these items:

  • Valid government-issued ID displaying your name and Lakewood residential address.
  • Current utility bill dated registered in the name and Lakewood address as on your ID, dated no sooner than 60 days of when you submit your application.
  • If renting--copy of a letter from property owner allowing device installation.
  • Copy of sales receipt dated July 1, 2024 or later
  • Photo of each security camera device installed to exterior of your home.
  • An image from each security camera device feed displaying the camera angle. (Note: Image must originate from the security camera device internal software).
  • If applying for the home security alarm system rebate, include the above items, plus the following:

    i. copy of signed contract showing start of service on or after July 1, 2024, for a minimum 1 year of monitoring services

    ii. copy of sales invoice listing installed equipment and total cost for equipment and installation

    iii. photos of installed (2) door sensors and master control panel 

     

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Reside in the City of Lakewood and have a valid government issued ID displaying your City of Lakewood residential address.
  2. Have a current utility bill (water, electricity, gas, phone) registered in your name to your City of Lakewood residential address, matching the Lakewood address on your valid government issued ID. Your utility bill must be dated no sooner than 60 days of when you submit your application.
  3. Own or rent the City of Lakewood residence where the security camera device(s) will be installed.

NOTE: If currently renting, a signed letter from the owner of the Lakewood residential property is required expressly giving written consent to you to install the security camera device on the exterior of the residential property.

Camera Eligibility

To be eligible for the rebates, each security camera device must:

• Individually be equipped with a camera.

• Be a brand-new, in original packaging, non-refurbished, security camera device.

• Have a total sale price, before taxes and installation, of $100 or greater.

Installation requirements:

  1. Cameras must be installed on the exterior of the home prior to rebate application submission.
  2. Camera angle(s) must capture any of the following location(s):
  • Residential front door
  • Residential front driveway
  • Residential front facing street
  • Residential front facing yard
  • Front/Side facing sidewalk
  • Adjacent ally way
  • Residential front yard
  • Side yard
  • Backyard fence line
  • Garage door entrances
